FTA and Albion chemicals
11 May 2004
The Freight Transport Association in association with Albion Chemicals
has today published its new ADR Drivers’ handbook. The handbook
provides essential guidance on the new ADR aligned British dangerous
goods regulation that came into force on 10 May 2004.
These new regulations called the Carriage of Dangerous Goods and Use
of Transportable Pressure Equipment Regulations 2004 implement amongst
other things a new system of load size thresholds above which the full
regulations apply, new vehicle equipment requirements and revised Emergency
Action Codes for tankers.
Written specifically for dangerous goods drivers, the pocket sized 20
page handbook provides up to date information on the new regulations
and covers the key requirements for the safe transport of dangerous goods
including:
Loading
Segregation
Placarding
Documentation
Safe parking
Emergencies
Commenting on the new Guide, Brian Robinson, Operations Director of the
Albion Chemicals Group said, ‘In our industry we operate with ever
increasing legislation. A key management issue in all of this is to communicate
in a user-friendly way to those people who must comply day to day.
‘This guide is key to that process as it clarifies the legislation
where it matters most, with the drivers.’
The guide will be made available to all drivers taking FTA’s City
and Guilds approved ADR training courses and from ShopFTA, priced £2.50
a copy (discounts for multiple orders apply), please call 01892 552278.
In line with the implementation of the new Carriage of Dangerous Goods
and Use of Transportable Pressure Equipment Regulations 2004, FTA has
also published a new Dangerous Goods Operator’s Guide, for transport
managers and Dangerous Goods Safety Advisors, priced at £5 per
copy and also available from [email protected]
